Federal Non-Profit Organization
Black people deserve to live long, healthy, and meaningful lives.
We empower Black Canadians with the knowledge, tools, and advocacy needed to live long, healthy, and meaningful lives despite the harms of systemic anti-Black racism.
The term Black within our organization is used as an inclusive umbrella term that honors the rich diversity of people of African descent in Canada. This includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as Black Canadians, African Canadians, Afro-Canadians, Africans, Black Africans, Caribbean, African-Caribbean, African Nova Scotians, Afro-Latino, Black Indigenous, and Mixed-race.. We recognize that Black identity is multifaceted and shaped by history, culture, and lived experience. At Black Lives Living Well Initiative, Black embraces all who experience anti-Black racism and discrimination based on skin colour in all our wonderful shades and stories.

Systemic Change
Advocating for Equity and Justice
The trauma that Black people deal with on a daily basis is affecting our mental and physical health. We are dying earlier and faster from preventable diseases. We’re on a mission to change that.
Beyond empowering individuals, we advocate within health, education, justice, and other organizations to combat anti-Black systemic racism at its roots.
Health
Addressing health disparities and improving access to quality healthcare for Black Canadians.
Education
Creating inclusive educational environments and addressing systemic barriers in schools.
Justice
Advocating for fair treatment and equity within the criminal justice system.
Institutions
Working with organizations to implement anti-racist policies and practices.
